Snickers Cookie Squares

With the 4th of July in just a few days these Snickers Cookie Squares are perfect to take with you anywhere you go!

I guarantee you these tasty little treats will be gone in no time! You start with everyone’s all-time favorite cookie (chocolate chip) and add almost everyone’s favorite candy bar (Snickers), and in no time at all you get these delicious Snickers Cookie Squares! 🙂

This is going to be a pretty straight-forward post. The idea is really quite simple so why make it complicated? Whether you make your own chocolate chip cookie dough or buy refrigerated cookie dough is up to you. Either way these treats are sure to turn out yummy!

In case you haven’t seen Snickers bites yet, this is what the bag looks like. I bought these at my local Target. I’m sure other stores have them as well. I just don’t where yet. It appears as though there is just the one size – 8 ounces. Just about perfect for most recipes!

Snickers Cookie Squares

Makes 12-24 bars, depending on how you cut them.

Ingredients                                                                            010

1 stick (1/2 cup butter), softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 large egg, at room temperature

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons vanilla pudding mix

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

1 – 8 ounce bag Snickers bites

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan with nonstick spray.

2. Combine flour, baking soda, vanilla pudding mix and salt in a small bowl; set aside.

3. Beat butter and sugars together on medium speed until fluffy and creamy. Mix in egg and vanilla until well combined.

4. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and half on the Snickers bites. It doesn’t need to be exact just kind of eyeball it. Dough will be sticky.

5. Pour dough into 13-in. x 9-in. pan, spread out evenly so dough is spread evenly. Either use fingers, or place a small plastic bag over hand, spray with nonstick spray and spread evenly.

6. Take the other half of the Snickers bites and position them evenly on the dough. Gently press them into the dough just a little bit.

7. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares.

Makes 24 bars, or at some houses more like 12. 🙂

Megamommy Notes

* If desired, you could substitute 2 cups of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough instead of making cookie dough from scratch.

* When I make these tasty treats like to put the entire glass pan on a cookie sheet, and then in the oven to bake. This will help keep the caramel soft and baked to perfection.
