Try my Chocolate Chip Fourth of July Cookies for your family and friends this Fourth of July. Everyone LOVES this jazzed up American classic!
When I think of 4th of July food, or Independence Day picnics, I think of classic American favorites done well! Are you guys with me so far?
For example, it’s never just a burger on the 4th of July, it’s a burger with all the fixings!
No one goes to the store to pick up just any old watermelon. We all want a big juicy sweet watermelon to enjoy! Preferably ice cold, right?
The same is true of dessert on The Fourth of July. Dessert needs to be a really good – any old dessert will not due on the 4th of July!
For the upcoming holiday I have taken a classic American cookie and jazzed it up just for The Fourth of July! 🙂
My Chocolate Chip Fourth of July Cookies are a real crowd pleaser!
As a general rule of thumb, I like to dip about 2/3 of the cookies in milk chocolate, semisweet chocolate or dark chocolate and about 1/3 of the cookies in white chocolate.
Nut sure if you can tell but these are mini chocolate chip cookies. Be sure to let your cookies cool all the way before dipping them. 🙂
Another friendly reminder, make sure you let the chocolate dry completely before you move or stack the cookies.
The red, white and blue sprinkles are just so fun!!
Chocolate Chip Fourth of July Cookies
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons vanilla instant pudding mix
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
12 ounces White Chocolate Melts
12 ounces Milk Chocolate Melts
Red, white and blue holiday sprinkles
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Line two cookie sheets with silicon baking mats or parchment paper. Set aside.
2. With a stand mixer of handheld mixer mix together the brown sugar, sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla. Continue mixing until incorporated. Slowly add the flour, salt, baking soda, and instant pudding mix. Mix until combined. Stir in mini chocolate chips. Mix until mini chocolate chips are evenly distributed through dough.
3. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out small scoops of dough on to each cookie sheet. Bake for about 9-11 minutes. Bake until cookies are golden at edges. Cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
4. In two separate microwaveable bowls, microwave chocolate melts according to package instructions. Gently dip each cookie no more than halfway into melted chips and lay onto a sheet of parchment paper. While chocolate is still warm, sprinkle cookies with holiday sprinkles of your choice. Let stand until chocolate sets, about 30 minutes. Or if you’re in a hurry you can place cookies in the freezer 3-5 minutes to set chocolate. Serve room temperature. Happy 4th of July!
