My Creamy Pasta with Ham & Peas makes dinner hassle-free and delicious any night of the week! Pasta always makes a great weeknight dinner. You can do just about anything with pasta. If your house is anything like mine you probably see happy faces when you serve pasta for dinner. My guys love pasta! I mean they love, love, love a good hearty pasta dish. That’s why I am constantly playing with different pasta combinations just to keep things fresh.
Today I share with you my own version of Creamy Pasta with Ham & Peas. Unlike many sauces out there this one does NOT start with two cups of heavy whipping cream. This dish is incredibly easy to whip together and is full of easy ingredients.
Basically, I took a few of our favorite ingredients, pasta, ham (great way to use up leftovers), peas, and of course a nice flavorful creamy sauce. Okay you got me, my youngest is not a pea enthusiast, but with the Pipe Rigate (large shells) some of the peas ended up in the pasta. You mean some of the peas end up in the pasta and can’t be seen, huh?
This is the line up of most of your ingredients. Don’t forget the garlic powder.
Creamy Pasta with Ham & Peas
8 ounces Pipe Rigate pasta, or any pasta you prefer
1 cup frozen peas
1 (8 ounce) container regular or reduced fat chive and onion cream cheese
1/2 cup chicken stock, or broth
2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
1/2 – 1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup divided, finely shredded Italian Five Cheese Blend
1. Bring water to a boil in large saucepan on medium-high heat. Cook pasta according to instructions on package. Place peas in large colander. Drain the hot pasta over vegetables to thaw; drain completely.
2. Using empty saucepan combine cream cheese, chicken broth, and half of shredded cheese blend; heat and stir until cheese is completely melted, stirring occasionally. Stir in ham and heat through.
3. Pour pasta and peas back heated sauce-ham mixture. Cook and gently stir until heated through. Top with remaining 1/4 cup cheese mixture. Allow to sit for a few minutes. Top with fresh or dried parsley, if desired.
Makes 4 servings.
