These cookies are truly loaded with what I consider special ingredients. But yet, the majority of these special ingredients are things that you probably have right now in your pantry.

I saw this recipe in Midwest Living, and just had to make these. I knew right away with a few adaptations these cookies would be wonderful – and they were!

Not that there’s anything wrong with their version, but when you bake a lot, you’re always creating and changing recipes. :)

When you make these at home, you can certainly adapt these any way you want to, and that’s the best part.

Think of a delicious peanut butter cookie made with chocolate peanut butter (see note below), semisweet chocolate chips, chopped peanut butter cups and just the right amount of honey roasted peanuts added. Yummy!

I love peanut butter, chocolate, and peanut butter cups 0f course. But usually I am not a fan of cookies with actual peanuts in them, until now. I cut down the amount of peanuts, and the cookies were perfect!

Of course the peanuts have to be honey roasted for these cookies. Or at least I think they do. :)

Awesome Chocolate-Peanut Blowout Cookies

A tasty pairing of dark chocolate peanut butter, semisweet chocolate chips, chopped peanut butter cups, and honey-roasted peanuts, these chunky cookies are absolutely wonderful!

ingredients:                                                 awesome chocolate-peanut blowout cookies_318

1/2 cup unsalted butter or regular butter if you don’t have unsalted, softened

1/2 cup dark chocolate peanut butter

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

1/4 cup chocolate milk, regular also works fine

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, or pieces

1/2 cup honey-roasted peanuts

3/4 cup coarsely chopped bite-size chocolate covered peanut butter cups (about 16)

directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and chocolate peanut butter with an electric mixer, or using a stand mixer for 30 seconds. Add the sugars, baking soda and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of the bowl occasionally.

2. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla. Using the mixer, beat in as much of the flour as you can. This won’t be a problem with a stand mixer. You may need to stir in the remaining flour by hand if using a hand mixer. Stir in chocolate chips, peanuts and chopped peanut butter cups.

3. Drop by generously rounded scoops 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Makes about 24 cookies.

*I used Skippy Natural Peanut Butter Spread with Dark Chocolate. It’s in the regular peanut butter section of most grocery stores. If this is not available simply use regular peanut butter for your cookies.
