Chocolate Mint Charmed Treats

March 17, 2014 · by Mega ·

Get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this new twist on a classic favorite!

Chocolate Mint Charmed Treats_214

St. Patrick’s Day is such a fun holiday to make yummy chocolate and mint recipes, really just fun recipes overall.

Last week I made a white chocolate treat similar to this one. Now, I give you my chocolate version!

It’s pretty hard to go wrong with mint chocolate and together in the same dessert. If you know what I mean?

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

For my Chocolate Mint Charmed Treats I start with chocolate flavored Lucky Charms. I picked them up a few weeks ago when they were on sale and I haven’t seen them in the store around here since.

Honestly, I don’t know if they’re new, or just new to me.

If you can’t find or don’t have chocolate Lucky Charms don’t sweat it, simply use any store brand of a marshmallow charm cereal, or regular Lucky Charms. No one will know, and it really doesn’t matter. 🙂

For the most part, I make these pretty much the same way as my White Chocolate Treats posted last week.

The delicious chocolate topping is melted Dove Mint & Dark Chocolate Swirl candy. It is so good! These treats are so easy to whip together, and perfect for when you’re in the mood for something chocolatey.

Chocolate Mint Charmed Treats

Get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this new twist on a classic favorite!

Ingredients:                                                             CMCT_210

4 tablespoons butter

1 package (10 ounces) miniature marshmallows

6 cups Chocolate Lucky Charms cereal, or any brand marshmallow charms cereal, chocolate or regular

8 ounces Dove Mint & Dark Chocolate Swirl, or regular chocolate chips will also work

2-3 tablespoons St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles, if desired

Directions:

1. Spray a 13 x 9 cake pan with nonstick cooking spray. If you would like a thicker bar, feel free to use a smaller pan. Set pan aside.

2. Lightly spray a large pot with nonstick cooking spray. It makes clean up much, much easier. Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large pot over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. Once marshmallows are completely melted and smooth, add the cereal. Stir until completely combined. Pour the mixture into prepared pan and press into an even layer.

3. Place pan in refrigerator and allow it to set before cutting, about 30 minutes. Remove the cooled treats from the pan to a cutting board. Using a 2-1/2 inch round cookie cutter, or a regular glass that measure about 2-1/2 inches at the opening. Cut out rounds and set aside.

4. Microwave Dove chocolate, or chocolate chips to melt completely. Stir chocolate to make sure there are no lumps. Put treats rounds a wax paper lined cookie sheet and cover with melted chocolate, then top with St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles. Once chocolate has set, place the treats on a serving platter and serve.

Makes 12 Chocolate Treats.

*A smaller pan such as a 8 x 8, or 9 x 9, can be used if you prefer a thicker bar.
