Butterscotch Chocolate Chunk Bars

My Butterscotch Chocolate Chunk Bars are great for any day you want a scrumptious, no-fuss dessert!

With as busy as we all are these days, I’ve got a mega simple bar recipe for you today that is tasty as can be!

You probably have the ingredients you need right in your pantry. So get out your favorite Yellow Cake Mix and let’s get started.

I don’t use chocolate chunks a lot, but when I do I try to make them count!

They are just the needed touch in these bars. Chocolate chunks are always so delightful, don’t you think?

Now about the butterscotch pudding. You can leave it out and the bars will turn out just fine. I like to add it because the pudding adds an extra hint of butterscotch in the bars.

Remember though, you will be adding butterscotch chips. So if you don’t have butterscotch pudding, or don’t want to add it, that’s just fine. :)

There’s just something special about butterscotch – these bars tend to disappear in no time at all!

Butterscotch Chocolate Chunk Bars

1 (regular size) package yellow cake mix

1 large egg

1 stick melted butter, preferably unsalted but salted will also work

2 tablespoons canola oil

2 tablespoons instant butterscotch pudding mix (these bars are good with or without the pudding, if you don’t have pudding mix, just skip it)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup butterscotch chips

3/4 cup chocolate chunks

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray 13 x 9 baking pan will cooking spray. Set aside.

2. Mix the cake mix, egg, melted butter, instant pudding, and vanilla in a large bowl with a heavy spoon until blended well. Press dough into pan.

3. Bake 23 to 26 minutes or until bars are just set slightly in the middle. Transfer pan to a wire rack and cool completely. Cut into bars, or any shape desired.

Makes 18 bars
