Chocolate Mousse Bites

So often simple is the best. That’s especially true with my Chocolate Mousse Bites. They are a great treat for a nice meal with family & friends.

I have always loved chocolate mousse. A mousse done just a bit on the lighter side make me very happy.

The great thing about my Chocolate Mousse Bites is you can make them as fancy as you want to, or not all.

These bites are great for when you’re having company for dinner and you want something a just little out of the ordinary, and of course they’re so cute!

Let’s take a look!

There are times my friends I really crave chocolate, but I don’t always want something heavy. You know, chocolate done in a light, delicious, and of course not too big sort of way.

You guys know what I mean, right?

The chocolate mousse isn’t too heavy, and it isn’t too light, it’s just right. :)

For the base of the mousse bites I used pie crust. It couldn’t be easier. Take any store bought pie crust, allow it to warm up as directed on the package, then cut out your discs.

I used a basic round cookie cutter, if you don’t have a cookie cutter you can use a regular drinking glass to cut the circles. You want these to be about 2 inches, so use a glass with an opening that isn’t too large.

You can use any type of garnish you want to decorate these little gems. The garnish I use most frequently is miniature chocolate chips.

I like their smaller size, and they work out well for these mousse bites.

Chocolate Mousse Bites are a great dessert, because they appeal to people of all ages. Give them try!

Ingredients:                                          chocolate mousse bites_136

1 – Refrigerated pie crust, or you can use homemade

1-3/4 cups cold milk (I usually use 2%)

1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding

1/2 cup Hershey’s spread – Chocolate with Almond

1 carton frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided (3/4 for mousse, remaining 1/4 for decorating tops of mousse bites)

Garnish, miniature chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Allow refrigerated pie crust to come to room temp as stated on package. Unroll crust, gently cut out circles using a round cookie cutter. Place discs onto cookie sheet and bake according to instructions on package. Allow to cool.

2. Whisk milk and pudding mix in a large bowl for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft set. Whisk in Hershey’s spread until smooth. Fold in 3/4 of thawed whipped topping.

3. Allow mousse to chill until almost ready to serve dessert. Cut small diagonal slit in corner of a plastic storage bag, place tip of choice into corner, fill with mousse. Or just use a plastic storage bag without a tip.

4. Squeeze desired amount of mousse onto each pie crust disc/circle. Garnish each mousse bite with a bit more thawed whipped topping, and top with a few more mini chocolate chips. Serve and enjoy!

*If you need a nut free product Hershey’s also has a regular chocolate spread that may fit your needs. These spreads are with the peanut butters, and other spreads, if you haven’t seen them already.
