From time to time I get email from people who request that I make a dessert without chocolate. It’s true!

Let’s talk about this for just a moment. I have actually MET people who simply do NOT like chocolate. I don’t get it, but hey, we all have our likes and dislikes. :)

Orange is a great flavor any time of year. To give the Rice Krispie Orange Delights a Fall spin I used Fall sprinkles and colors. Of course you can decorate these delights however you want to. :)

Rice Krispie Orange Delights

INGREDIENTS:                                        mm_038

3 tablespoons butter

4 cups miniature marshmallows, or 10 oz. regular marshmallows

3 cups Rice Krispies cereal

3 cups cereal Fruity Yummy Mummy Cereal, any fruity cereal will do

Optional:

1/2 can Orangesicle frosting, you could substitute vanilla frosting, plus 1/2-1 teaspoon orange extract, and 1 small drop red food coloring, and 1 small drop yellow food coloring

Sprinkles, any color/shape you like

DIRECTIONS:

1. Spray a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with cooking spray; set aside. I used 2 – 7″ round pans sprayed generously with nonstick spray. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add Rice Krispies cereal and Fruity Yummy Mummy cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool completely before decorating. Place 1/2 the can of frosting on the microwave for about 10 seconds. You want to be able to garnish with it as desired, you don’t want it too warm. Garnish top with desired amount of frosting; add desired sprinkles, if using.

Allow to set up for 15-30 minutes. Cut into squares, or desired shape. Treats are best if served the same day.

MM Note: Any fruity cereal would work just fine in these treats! I picked up Fruity Yummy Mummy on sale at Target before Halloween. Normally I wouldn’t have it on hand. Any Fruity Pebble type of cereal works very well in this recipe, it doesn’t have to be name brand.
